Because we have evolved a large and complex brain and were able to create and use tools initially while now we are so advanced as to be able to even cretae life itself. We are awesome beings..! just stupid sometimes killing each other for stupid things like money and fanatical dogmas…!

We have bigger and more complex brains and our thumbs allow us to use many more tools more efficiently.

I guess that is evolution at work….. for some reason, humans have been selected as a very clever species, as to thrive we must have needed to hunt, think and consider things logically.

Well short answer is evolution…..longer answer is we are not..we may be more advanced in certain areas…but only those which we need to be in the succeed in our environment.. Now of course we have the ability to readically change our environment to suit our needs whcih does put us head and shoulders above most other animals

Because we have developed over the years to become more intelligent although many believe that many races before us were more intelligent! However they never had an iPad which is what I am using to answer these questions!

I think that’s up for debate.
We clearly excel in certain areas, but are we really all that?
We seem to be good at killing each other; that’s quite a stupid thing for a species to do to its own kind.

Dolphins, elephants and other higher primates are also very intelligent, to extents we don’t fully understand yet – maybe they’re laughing at us!

It’s fascinating that elephants and chimps mourn their dead, very much like we do. Death is a complex subject, yet they seem to understand it.
Even sheep have been shown to ‘fall in love’!

I think we underestimate many of our animal cousins.

Good points Marianne. Animals have ver strong instincts and in some cases thse instincts relate to social aspects of their lives. Animals too kill each other and many animals kill their own species.

The problem with humans is that we are not spiritually perfect and are prone to temptations mainly money and power to dominate. I agree it is a stupid thing but it takes a trully giant of a human being to be a perfect human being. It is possible though, and if one manages to achieve such a feat he/she will be the most magnificent form of life in the universe.

We (human beings) have magificent potential if we could just rise above our limitations and achieve our full potential it would be great.

I agree with Marianne about this – just ask yourself: who is it that says we’re clever and more advanced? Oh yeah, it’s us – maybe we’re not the best ones to judge.

      Herllo Tom,

But we are the only species that has advanced technology, cars, airoplanes, movies, mobile phones, electricity etc. I think the human race is a magnificant manifestation of what life can achieve. I agree though that spiritually and emotionally we still have a long way to go. Simply, we are not perfect like all forms of life we have our weaknesses. But still I love and trully believe in the human race.

We do seem about arrogant about our own place in the big scheme of things. Well thought out Marianne.

Marianne, my brain’s given up, I hadn’t noticed you were ‘that’ Marianne, assumed it was a particularly bright student. Doh! ;-)

Note to self, stop answer questions after midnight or brain becomes mush! :-)
