Favourite Thing: I love doing research. I get very excited when we discover new things and publish our findings in science journals. I also enjoy teaching students particularly when the students are interested, enthusiastic and hard working.

Favourite Thing: Teaching: Realise someone has clicked and understands something they didn’t before….so cool when you see that happen. Research: Finding something out that no-one else has ..especially if it has a direct link to solving a problem…oh and seeing a project students face when they start to realise that they are also the first people to find something out….really rewarding

Favourite Thing: What gives the biggest adrenalin rush, the greatest thrill? ……without a doubt, realising you’re the first person, in the world, to see or understand something. I can only compare it to skiing off the side of a mountain strapped to a big parachute, scary and exciting at the same time.

What I do: I try to figure out how bacteria work and how we can use this knowledge to fight infection, make something useful or to just know the answer.
