Well, I guess I should say someone like Albert Einstein or Watson and Crick….. but that would be lying. I am really into football, and am a big Everton fan so my idol growing up was Duncan Ferguson. I guess nowadays I admire people anyone who shows guts and determination above and beyond the call of duty- Eddie Izzard springs to mind. When he completed all those marathons, I was in utter awe- the mental strength needed to do that was awesome.
I don’t really have one although I admired Ignaz Semmelweis when i learnt about him.
He noticed that mothers were dying if they were seen by students who has just finished dissecting dead bodies. ( this was 1800’s before we knew to wash our hands, or even that bacteria existed) He suggested washing hands in chlorinated solutuions and sure enough the illnesses and deaths plummetted. Of course no one believed him and unfortunately he died in an insane asylum…
So to answer the question..one of the people i admired , if not idolised, is dead
If you mean ‘who’s your idol?’ then it has to be David Attenborough, his ability to explain things simply, so lots of people can understand them, is what got me interested in Biological sciences.
If you really mean ‘how is he?’ then I guess he’s OK for someone of advancing year. 😉
