• Question: Why is it that natural blondes tend to have blue eyes aswell? Do they share any link?

      Hello Hannah,

      Not really. There is no common link with blonde hair and blue eyes. They are different genetic traits. I know of several blondes that have not got blue eyes. My Mum was a blonde (in her younger days…!) and she had green eyes..!

      Interesting question and I don’t know the answer however the characteristics are common to similar populations like scandinavians so it is very possible that they are genetically linked, both recessive genes!

      the gene affecting melanin the colur for eyecolour and hair colour ..if a version that produces little melanin then you get light coloured hair and eyes ( depending on the amount of melanin produced)

      There is also evidence that a single mutation affecting hair and eye colour occured and this is where all blue+blonde people came from originally
