Probably not ….yet There are more senior scientists who are women now than beofre. Is it completely fair..not probably not yet

There are a lot of female scientists who have extremely successful careers- but propotionally there are more male senior scientists than female, which is a problem that needs to be addressed in almost every profession, not just science.

No they don’t. But overall women need to get a better share of everything in all walks of life.

      Hi Charlotte
I’d be interested to hear what Sarah says about this, being a bloke I may not see things as clearly as she does. In Biology women make up more than 50% of the scientists these days, but unfortunately not yet in the top positions. I hope that will change over time though. In other fields it’s a bit different, probably because schools still see physics and maths, for instance, as ‘Boys’ subjects. This is rubbish of course, women can do just as well in Science as men.

Depends on where you work. Some places are still focused on helping the ‘boys’ but there is a lot less discrimination in academic sciene than I have experienced in business. Women who are high up in science do tend to be strong assertive women but I would like to think that all women have a fair chance. there are a lot more women choosing science at university now so there is a chance this will still improve further.
