Thiomargarita namibiensis is the biggest, with a diameter that is anything from about 0.1mm to as big as 0.75mm. I think it would be possible to see these really big ones without the use of a microscope.

I don’t know much about sizes…..The definition of a microbe is an organsism that can be seen under a microscope. So, anything that is too big won’t be a microbe! I know that bacteria is pretty big compared to virsuses, which are tiny.

The biggest microbe is the Pearl of Namibia which is about 0.7mm in size. It was found in Namibia in 1999 and a scientist got a paper in one of the top journals ‘Science’ after this discovery.
