It would give me the opportunity to thank the mothers and children from my studies for taking part on the many studies that the Medical Research Council do in the Gambia. It woudl also be an opportunity for us to explian more about what we do and why and what blood is etc. The Sukuta community which is very poor and mostly illiterate really appreciate this.
Well, it would be lovely to win, but the whole competition isn’t about that- it is a fun way of engaging with young people like yourself, and hopefully getting people more interested in science and research (to stimulate the scientists of the future!).
Other than the birth of my daughter, it would be the greatest moment of my life 🙂
It would also help me bring science to schools that don’t get the chance to find out how really cool doing experiments, and finding out for themselves how stuff works, really is. But to be honest, I think it’s really hard to compete with the difference it could make to the community where Sarah works in The Gambia. If I was voting I’d probably vote for her.
I’d be chuffed to bits…the 2 studnets who would go to a conference wouldbe chuffed and the school studnets who got to do more outreach would be chuffed
