There are many bacteria that can harm you. just follow normal hygiene habits and be a bit more careful when you do something different. For example if you visit an animal farm and handle animals just wash your hands regularly. if food goes off do not eat it and things like that.

There are lots of nasty bacteria: listeria, salmonella, and some kinds of e coli are pretty nasty and can cause food poisoning. best way of ‘repelling’ these are washing hands after handling raw meat, and making sure we cook our food properly

Keep healthy is the first thing to do, healthy people fight off infections better than unhealthy people. By healthy I mean eat well and exercise. Other than that, basic hygiene with soap and water is all you need. Wash hands after going to the loo and before preparing or eating food. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Make sure you use clean toilets. If you contact something nasty like dog poo, again just having a good wash with soap and water would be enough. I could give you a huge list of bugs that do you harm, but most of them are so rare in the UK that they aren’t worth a second thought. I would be a bit more careful in hospital, it is full of sick people after all, that is a place I would say hand gel use should be encouraged. There are infections in hospitals that can be quite harful such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile, but so long as you, and the people treating you, observe the basic rules of cleanliness I’ve outlined above, you should be OK. The one thing you are most likely to get is food poisoning from badly prepared chicken, but so long as it’s cooked properly, that won’t happen.
The best advice I can give is not to be too obsessed with cleanliness, your immune system needs to see a few bugs now and then to keep it on its toes. 🙂

many many bacteria can harm you, if they get in the wrong location. For insatnce..bacteria that cause meningitis can live and die happily up your nose..no danger at all..however if they get to your blood brain barrier…very serious
most bacteria cause inflammation,( an over the top immune repsonse) if that happenned on heart muscle ( endocarditis ) then very serious.
But many many organisms just never get to these dangerous locations
      hope that helps

Lots and lots too many to mention here. these can be repelled by cleaning your self and your enviornment, also by antibiotics. However some are very strong and can not be got rid of. These are the most harmful and can kill you.
