Because they get dirty. I bath my dog once a week and he is smelling just fine.

Because it’s a good way of finding food (I’ll get my coat).

Probably because they don’t take baths/showers as often as us or clean their teeth. And have you smelt dog food? You’d stink as well if you had to eat that muck.

Because they like rolling in all sorts of rubbish and getting really dirty. It helps them camouflage their real smell from other animals, and they just love to be stinky I reckon.
The dog I had when I was kid used to roll in cowpats in the field next to our house 😉

they don’t if you clean them regularly unless they like to roll around in things that smell bad!

      to find bones?….
if you mean why are dogs smelly..well we all are…minute molecules of ourselves, gas grom bacteria living in moist places ( like ou armpits) all impact of the olfactory ( smelling) syetm of all animals.
Dogs smell like dogs because of either a common bacteria they all share..or a common bit of dog that sheds and smells a certain way

not an exact answer but hopefully you get the idea
