I don’t. I am happy with what I have and I am happy about what other people have and achieve. I am not jealous..! I am happy with who I am.

You tell me! we’re too greedy!
I’ve never really understood it personally, advertising has alot to do with it. Having said that, I do like gadgets, it’s probably a boy thing, but they’re so expensive. 😉

Seriously though, it’s a competitive survival instinct from our ancient past, an evolutionary hangover to get all the resources when they’re available. But now it’s pretty much just greed in the UK.

probably dates back to when our species fought to breed with the best specimens so the toughest most attrractive bred togther ( so they would produce the most survive proof children) this over time changed to most successful or the smartest

Somehwere deep in out genes we are still being pushed into appearing the best so we will attract the best mate..

      well its one theory….

I don’t always want more than other people and it isn’t cool! However it probably comes from the male wanting to prove to the female that he has lots of things and is therefore successful and strong and makes him a better mate. however we have moved away from those instincts now and luckily most females are not impressed by the same things any more and intelligence is thought of as being more important.

Well, there is probably a psychological explanation based on evolution (i.e. those who strive to be the best will be more likely to suceed), but this is just a guess!
