Because the money will go to help educate a very poor community in rural Africa about science including trying to motivate the children to go to science and study science.
Well, I am sure we are all worthy of your vote! But a vote for me will enable us to run an event that gets students from underpriveleged schools to visit our University research labs to see first hand all the cool things we do. They also get to learn a load about basic science, hopefully helping them see that science is interesting and stimulating, and encouraging them to keep studying it at school.
With the £500 prize money I will assemble scientific resource boxes that primary schools can borrow to carry out an experiment together. The boxes will contain all the kit to help schools with limited resources carry out a ‘Big Experiment’ all together. Not all children are lucky enough to attend primary schools with the equipment needed to do really good science experiments.
The schools will also get to meet me (or another scientist). I’ll talk to them about science, being a scientist and a normal person, and help with the experiment.
Surely, helping the lucky children to meet me has to be worth your vote!? ;-)…. I’ll beg if i have too!!! ….on my knees, pretty please!….my cat’s begging you too….mieow! 😉 😉 😉 😉
